Speaking of France, what first comes to your mind?
Wine, cheese, baguette, Paris, perfume, Chanel?
Wait, how about French education?

France has one of the most prestigious higher education systems in the world. French institutions appear prominently in the Shanghai Classification of Universities, in the rankings of the Financial Times and Times Higher, and in the European Report on Science and Technologies published by the European Commission. Each year, France invests more than 20% of the government’s budget in education. France is also the fourth most popular destination for international students and diplomas from French higher education institutes are recognized and accepted throughout the world.
If you consider doing your Master or PhD degree in France, we have good news for you! The French government offers financial support to foreign students every year, and one of the Scholarships we want to introduce today is Eiffel scholarship.

So, what is the Eiffel scholarship? And what are its aims?
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme was created by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development with the aim of attracting top foreign students to enroll in French higher education establishments. The programme supports the future development of foreign decision-makers in the private and public sectors. In priority areas of study, applications from emerging countries are encouraged at Masters level, and those from emerging and industrialized countries are encouraged at PhD level.

Fields of study
- engineering science at Masters level, science in the broadest sense at PhD level
- economics and management;
- law and political sciences

Duration
Master level:
- Master 1 level: maximum 24 months
- Master 2 level: maximum 12 months
- Engineering program: maximum 36 months
PhD level: maximum 10 months

Scholarship benefits
Master level: a monthly allowance of €1,181 (a maintenance allowance of €1,031 and a monthly stipend of €150). PhD’s level: a monthly allowance of €1,400
Additional cover: one international return journey, social security cover and cultural activities.
Tuition fees are not covered by the Eiffel Scholarship.

Eligibility
- Nationality: non-French students (those who hold dual nationality for France and another nation are not eligible)
- Age:
  • Master level: candidates must be no older than 30 on the date of the selection committee meeting
  •  PhD level: candidates must be no older than 35 on the date of the selection committee meeting
- Origin of applications: only applications submitted by French educational establishments, in which candidates are enrolled to a Master or PhD degree, are accepted. Candidates who are nominated by more than one establishment will be disqualified.
- Language skill: must meet the courses or programme requirements
- Not applicable for:
  • French-run Masters courses abroad and training under apprenticeship contract or professional contract
  • Candidates who already been awarded other French government scholarships at the time of application
  •  Any candidates who applied previously but were rejected

Please note that if you want to apply for this scholarship, you must to be accepted by a French institution and nominated by this institution. The application has to be done through your school in order to be valid.
